Elmira Aviators acquire trio of defensemen in trade with Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks
The Elmira Aviators have made a trade with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. Elmira acquires defensemen Andrew Horn, Drew Jensen and Anthony White in exchange for forwards Alexis Billequey and Kai Elkie.
White is a 2004-born hard-hitting defenseman from Gilbert, Arizona. He has three points in 21 games played this season. He says he will bring physicality to the Aviators’ back end.
“As a veteran player, I like to bring a physical, high-energy, fast-paced game,” White said.
Elmira General Manager Nick Perri looks forward to the leadership White will bring.
“Elmira is very excited about adding these three players from Danbury. Anthony is a veteran player whose experience in the league will go a long way toward helping our organization,” Perri said.
Horn is a 2007-born Princeton commit from Chicago, Illinois. He has six points in 19 games played this season. He brings needed youth and excitement to the Aviator lineup.
“I’m really excited to meet the team. I know the fans are great so I can’t wait to play in front of them and help us win games,” Horn said.
There is plenty to be excited about with Horn’s game.
“I am a 2-way defenseman with offensive upside,” Horn said. “I excel at moving the puck and making plays.”
Horn’s puck-moving ability will help Elmira navigate the neutral zone and enter the attacking end.
Jensen is a 2006-born player hailing from Syracuse, New York. He has five points in 21 games played. Jensen is thrilled to return close to home.
“Being from the Syracuse area, I am really excited to be coming to Elmira,” Jensen said. “It will be great to be so close to home, and it will give my family the opportunity to come to more games.”
Jensen said he is ready to get started with the Aviators. On the ice, he wants to help the team with his extra effort.
“I think I’m a strong skating two-way defenseman with the ability to contribute on the offensive side of the game,” Jensen said. “I’m also hard to play against and take pride in winning 50/50 battles.”
That hard-nosed grit is something the Aviators will gladly welcome in.
Perri likes that Jensen and Horn provide help for the Aviators now and down the line.
“Andrew and Drew are good young defensemen who have a lot to offer Elmira this season and in the future,” Perri said.
There is plenty to look forward to as the Aviators bolster their defense, but they are saying goodbye to two excellent forwards.
“In addition to welcoming Anthony, Andrew and Drew, the Aviators would like to thank Alexis and Kai for their time in Elmira,” Perri said.
Elmira will be back in action this Thursday when the Aviators take on the New Jersey Titans in a two-game series on the road.
